This is a special entry, because this week see’s Sweetspot Golf sponsoring the PGA Europro event at Longhirst Hall in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Sweetspot Golf produce a range of Stamina Bars and Sports Beans. Sweetspot Stamina Bars have been designed to keep golfers energised, focused and performing while others are fading, giving them the edge and warding off a late round crash. Whilst the Sweetspot Beans are designed to give a sudden boost of energy if you feel your energy levels crashing towards the end of the round.

This will be the third edition of the event, to be played over the Lakes Course. Longhirst Hall has two courses, the second course being the Dawson Course. The course will play at 6642 yards and carry a par of 70 for this weeks event. The Lakes course as described has many water hazards, with water coming into play on 16 of the 18 holes. Longhirst Hall’s first course, ‘The Old Course’ was opened in 1997 and later 11 new holes were built and 7 of ‘The Old Course’ holes were taken to form the Lakes Course which opened in 2003.

Over the first two editions of the event, scoring has been around level par with both winners having to come through a playoff to take the trophy home. Last years winner Graeme Clark beat James Busby on the first extra hole. With both players now playing on The European Challenge Tour along with 2010 runner up Daniel Gaunt, Longhirst Hall proves to be a good stepping stone to further success. Both Stuart Archibald and Graeme Clark hold the record of lowest round with 65′s, with Stuart Archibald shooting his in the last round to come from 7 behind to triumph in a playoff in 2010.

The event starts with a Pro-Am on Wednesday 30th August before the main event which runs from Thursday through to Saturday. Throughout the week spectator entry is free and it is a great opportunity to come and see the stars of the future up close and personal.

Also throughout the week I will be writing a diary of the event and my participation in the tournament, you can follow this either through this blog or at http://www.sweetspotgolfbar.co.uk
